Danny Lamoreaux, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist - Tucson, AZ
Bio
Hey friend! I’m a Sonoran desert native and grew up building forts and collecting rocks in the washes of Northwest Tucson. My wife and I met in high school, went to Senior prom together, and the rest is history! We have four studly boys that make sure there is never a dull moment in the home. Together, our family enjoys desert hikes (only in the Winter, of course!), visits to Mt. Lemmon, and Lord of the Rings movie marathons. When I get "me time," I enjoy songwriting, reading, and photography.
I obtained my B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University and my Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Arizona. Although I initially spent my early career evaluating and supporting K-12 students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities, a personal mid-life “swampland” reignited a deeper calling within me, prompting me to obtain my general psychology license and pursue a path in psychotherapy.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe that personal struggle is deeply sacred and can imbue life with positive meaning when treated with compassion and acceptance. My desire to witness and walk with others through their struggle is what drew me to psychology and the practice of therapy. I am dedicated to treating those I sees not just as “clients” but as fellow humans and to fostering a collaborative therapeutic space where there is zero judgment, genuine compassion, and shared vulnerability.
My psychotherapy approach is primarily based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which fosters psychological flexibility. ACT principles emphasize willingness to feel pain and struggle, the use of mindfulness practices, and the exploration of values-based choices to construct a life of meaning despite one’s daily challenges. Concepts from the Enneagram and Jungian psychology can be applied when appropriate to help individuals with a spiritual focus in their lives develop a more authentic spiritual identity and lifestyle.
